Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will[o]ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
If there is one thing I struggle with is rest. It’s crazy because I love how God will use anyone to get a message to you. I was out with clients in Stockholm and one of them came up to me and said this “you’re a very beautiful woman, and I know you’re going to go far in life, you have great capacity and such energy, but you need to rest. You go, go go and you are going to crash, take time for yourself.”
I was stunned. I thought, this gentleman has spent two days with me and had this insight. I was stunned but not shocked. I know that I go go go, a lot. One of things I am learning is that we need rest.
If we’re going to lead big, expansive and full lives with purpose we must take the time to stop and rest.
For me it’s about getting back to the basics if i’m going to function properly and keep going. That means, exercise, very little sugar, loads of water and sleep. It also means that at least once a week I need an evening to myself to shut out the world and do whatever I want that isn’t a “must.” Most importantly, for me, it means taking time out also to worship and focus on God because HE gives me the ultimate rest.
When we don’t take the time to rest we run the risk of overreacting to situations, wearing ourselves out, being overly emotional (especially us girls) or simply getting sick.
so maybe take some time this week and get lost…get some rest and get ready to take on the world.
