You are amazing

You are amazing. Yes, you…sitting at your computer, working hard. You are uniquely created to fulfill your destiny through Christ. NOTHING that anyone can do can stop that which Christ has destined for you.

Even if your dreams, goals and aspirations seem to be shattered or far away, that which God has planned for you will happen. He knows the plans He has for you; His plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future. His ways are greater than our ways. His thoughts greater than any that we can ever have.

God says…

• You are a child of God.
But to all who have received him–those who believe in hisname–he has given the right to become God’s children … (John 1:12).
• You are  a branch of the true vine, and a conduit of Christ’slife.
I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. I am thevine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me–and I in him–bears muchfruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing (John 15:1, 5).
•You are a friend of Jesus.
I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does notunderstand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because Ihave revealed to you everything I heard from my Father (John 15:15).
• You have been justified and redeemed.
But they are justified freely by his grace through theredemption that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24).
• Your old self was crucified with Christ, and You are  no longera slave to sin.
We know that our old man was crucified with him so that thebody of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslavedto sin (Romans 6:6).
• You will not be condemned by God.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are inChrist Jesus (Romans 8:1).
• You have been set free from the law of sin and death.
For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus hasset you free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
• As a child of God, You are a fellow heir with Christ.
And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and alsofellow heirs with Christ)–if indeed we suffer with him so we may also beglorified with him (Romans 8:17).
• You have been accepted by Christ.
Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you,to God’s glory (Romans 15:7).
• You have been called to be a saint.
… To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who aresanctified in Christ Jesus, and called to be saints, with all those in everyplace who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours (1 Corinthians1:2). (See also Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, and Colossians 1:2.)
• In Christ Jesus, You have wisdom, righteousness,sanctification, and redemption.
He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus,who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification andredemption … (1 Corinthians 1:30).
• Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you.
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’sSpirit lives in you (1 Corinthians 6:19)?
• You are joined to the Lord and am one spirit with Him.
But the one united with the Lord is one spirit with him (1Corinthians 6:17).
• God leads you in the triumph and knowledge of Christ.
But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphalprocession in Christ and who makes known through us the fragrance that consistsof the knowledge of him in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14).
• The hardening of your mind has been removed in Christ.
But their minds were closed. For to this very day, the sameveil remains when they hear the old covenant. It has not beenremoved because only in Christ is it taken away (2 Corinthians 3:14).
• You are a new creature in Christ.
So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; whatis old has passed away–look, what is new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17)!
• You have become the righteousness of God in Christ.
God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, sothat in him we would become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).
• You have been made one with all who are in Christ Jesus.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave norfree, there is neither male nor female–for all of you are one in Christ Jesus(Galatians 3:28).
• You are no longer a slave, but a child and an heir.
So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are ason, then you are also an heir through God (Galatians 4:7).
• You have been set free in Christ.
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and donot be subject again to the yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1).
• You have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in theheavenly places.
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, whohas blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ(Ephesians 1:3).
• You are chosen, holy, and blameless before God.
For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the worldthat we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love (Ephesians 1:4).
• You are redeemed and forgiven by the grace of Christ.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgivenessof our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).
• You have been predestined by God to obtain an inheritance.
In Christ we too have been claimed as God’s own possession,since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishesall things according to the counsel of his will (Ephesians 1:11).
• You have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of yoursalvation)–when you believed in Christ–you were marked with the seal of thepromised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13).
• Because of God’s mercy and love, You have been made alivewith Christ.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love withwhich he loved us, even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alivetogether with Christ–by grace you are saved (Ephesians 2:4-5)!
• You are seated in the heavenly places with Christ.
… And he raised us up with him and seated us with him in theheavenly realms in Christ Jesus … (Ephesians 2:6).
• You are God’s workmanship created to produce good works.
For we are his workmanship, having been created in ChristJesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them (Ephesians2:10).
• I have been brought near to God by the blood of Christ.
But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away havebeen brought near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).
• You are a member of Christ’s body and a partaker of Hispromise.
… The Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body,and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 3:6). (See alsoEphesians 5:30.)
• You have boldness and confident access to God through faith inChrist.
… In whom we have boldness and confident access to Godbecause of Christ’s faithfulness (Ephesians 3:12).
• Your new self is righteous and holy.
… Put on the new man who has been created in God’s image–inrighteousness and holiness that comes from truth (Ephesians 4:24).
• You were formerly darkness, but now You are light in the Lord.
… For you were at one time darkness, but now youare light in the Lord.Walk as children of the light (Ephesians 5:8).
• You are a citizen of heaven.
But our citizenship is in heaven–and we also await a saviorfrom there, the Lord Jesus Christ … (Philippians 3:20).
• The peace of God guards your heart and mind.
And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding willguard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
• God supplies all your needs.
And my God will supply your every need according to hisglorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
• You have been made complete in Christ.
… You have been filled in him, who is the head over everyruler and authority (Colossians 2:10).
• You have been raised up with Christ.
Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seekingthe things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Colossians3:1).
• Your life is hidden with Christ in God.
… For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ inGod (Colossians 3:3).
• Christ is Your life, and You will be revealed with Him inglory.
When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will berevealed in glory with him (Colossians 3:4).
• You have been chosen of God, and You are holy and beloved.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved,clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, andpatience … (Colossians 3:12).
• God loves YOU and has chosen YOU.
We know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he haschosen you … (1 Thessalonians 1:4).

Do not worry, do not let your soft heart harden. Find your strength in Him. He loves you.

For Her Freedom

note: Today’s post is taking a step out from the usual to highlight that which is far too important to ignore. The One.

There is an estimated 27 million people in slavery today. When I sat in history class back in high school reading books about the underground railway and Harriet Tubman we were told that slavery was abolished.

It may be illegal but it’s still very much around.

“The A21 Campaign was born when the decision was made to raise our hand, and be that “someone.” It was a decision of ordinary people who decided to take responsibility regarding the issue of human trafficking. So with little knowledge, and a lot of passion, in 2007 we set out to make a difference”.

We can raise awareness, as individuals and put a stop to slavery in the 21st century.

Apparently insanity is doing something over and over…

..and thinking you’ll get different results.

Last week my PT told me that I needed to change my eating habits. I wasn’t eating badly but to achieve the results I wanted I needed to change the way I consume food.

I’m supposed to eat 6-7 times a day with only a handful of food. In order to comprehend this, to make it a habit I need to stop my current routine and put effort into changing my patterns. I just had a snack at 11:39 so therefore at 2:39 I need to eat a cup of soup. Strange? Yes. Effective? Apparently…and why not try.

The same goes with your thought life. Your thoughts are powerful and can take you in both a good and bad direction. I think a lot. I mean, if you have ever had a conversation with me I’m all of a sudden coming out with something that SEEMS like it’s not related but I have created a chain in my brain and it makes sense to me.

I have always struggled with keeping my thoughts controlled. Being a very passionate person I can easily end up going off on tangents. But the Bible says “Bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ 2 Cor. 10:5

A few years ago Christine Caine likened the thought process to trains. You may be on a train going in one direction and realise it’s not the right destination so you must get off and jump on another train. Staying on that train will take you to the wrong destination and just getting off won’t help but keep you stuck where you are.

Lately thoughts of not being good enough, self worth, value, pain, hurt, have TRIED to fill my brain and my thought life. The Bible says “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” I have had to stop. Get off the proverbial train and jump on one that says my value is secure, spoken for, I’m loved, adored and taken care of forever. That I will always be enough to God.

I challenge you to look at the thoughts that fill your heard. Are they pure? Lovely? Admirable? Excellent or praiseworthy? 

If not, you’re not going to move forward in life…and quite frankly, that can lead to insanity.

Girl on a Mission: part two, the next four months…

Admittedly I’m a planner…one person dear to me called me “his little planner” even. It’s in my genes. I’m not sure where I got it but I’m believing that I’m not just weird so I say it’s passed down from someone. I’m pretty sure though my dad may be responsible. I do recall trips were planned down to the tee and had itineraries. You can read my blog post here which outlines my desire to give God it all and put down a few goals. 

In this blog I talked about these dreams: 

  • speak French, Spanish, German and Dutch (now Swedish) or Korean, FLUENTLY
  • play guitar well
  • write an album full of songs
  • Produce a movie (or 10)
  • Produce a live musical (in a major city)
  • learn to play my violin
  • marry a man who is passionate about God, me and others
  • own a place in New York and Paris
  • run my own PR company
  • write at least one book
  • play a significant impact on abolishing slavery in the 21st century
  • run a centre for creative arts for young adults

Now, they haven’t changed and they’re still important to me…but I am challenging myself to 4 months of no planning. 

That’s right. I’m sure my friend miss e will have a LOT to say about this..but I am not going to plan and I invite you to join me on this journey, even if it’s just to come along and read. 

For the next four months (to go along with my no-buying new clothing pact!) I am going to live life challenging myself to live daily. To ME this doesn’t just mean not filling up every moment with plans, but it means to NOT look at my future and say I am going to do X, Y and Z. 

Instead of making life changing decisions I am going to live in the moment and concentrate on what God gave me…today.

My goals are to be spiritually, emotionally and physically in better shape by July 8th…(right after my darling friends’ wedding in Italy). At that time, I can reassess and see if I can make new plans…but until then, I am going to live in the moment, not worry about tomorrow, for today has enough of it’s own to worry about. My focus is to build up my relationship with God, others and my Personal Trainer (jokes, I pay him to like me so it doesn’t count). 

I am hoping that this season brings excellence new habits, better relationships with all sorts of people and a time of rest of sorts, a time to not put so much pressure on myself, but just to live. 

I hope you’ll join me as I walk this, I’ll have lots of pictures (you should see my PT), fun stories, and I’m sure pretty hard days.

Girl on a Mission

Maybe I should change the name of my blog to Girl on a Mission.

I was speaking with a friend of mine about goals, dreams and aspirations. We were chatting about how we have these desires and dreams in our heart and when they don’t come to fruition in our timing we get down and are quick to change the path or doubt the good in the

However, the fact is, that our lives are not our own. Our mission, though it may take different forms in action, is to glorify God, being salt and light to a world that doesn’t know Him and the LOVE he has for all mankind.

I can be an incredibly focused person (despite my ADD tendencies) and when I set my mind on something I can very easily become to attached and dependent on that project or person and forget the reason that I am living. I have a passionate heart that needs a strong anchor. I live, feel, imagine deep and strong and with such passion…I have never lived life in the middle…I’m pretty sure I’m on a mission all the time. I don’t believe in living life in halves.

What I have learned is that it’s not a bad thing, it’s that I need to refocus every day on my central goal, so that all that is around me, that life I lead on a day to day, remains in perspective and that my actions and thoughts and feelings reflect HIS love.

As I do this, He carries me…I don’t have to worry or fret. I can be calm and reliant on God to move me when needed and the impact on the world will be FAR greater because HIS strength is made perfect in my weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9).

And so I take time, to reflect, rest and when all around me may not be going immediately as I see it going, I trust in the Promises of God and the path He has made.

Life can change in but a moment…

Proverbs 27:1 reads: Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

We do not know what tomorrow brings…
In the last year I have experienced more than one event; good and bad that have rocked my world. Overnight my life has changed, sometimes dramatically and in all instances I had no idea that it was coming.
We do not know what tomorrow will bring. When we live in the hope of tomorrow instead of grace of today, we stop guarding our hearts, we can lose perspective and become overwhelmed by or misconstrue reality…
I challenge myself, and others to live in today because that it all we are ever given and keep our eyes focused on Christ to give us the wisdom and strength for today.

Perfected by Him

I’ve learned a lot about myself over the past few months, lessons that have hit hard as of late.

I’ve learned that we can easily slip into the lies told by society, culture, the devil and our peers but it’s our choice to believe them.

I’ve struggled with my weight for many years, having fought many battles and won, the war still rages…It’s not the weight that I battle with…it’s the insecurity that comes with it.

In those moments I have to remember that God made me, 100%. He knew EVERYTHING about me before I was born and knew what my struggles, fears, insecurities and battles would be. He however did not cause them and He has given me all the tools to overcome them.

Hebrews 10 reads “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” By Christ dying on the cross I am perfect. That literally translates into perfect in who I am, in my identity. I am perfect because my identity is in Him; He gave his life so I could be free.

It’s a daily, sometimes minute by minute confession of this fact. We live in freedom because HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US.

Recently I noticed that in my day to day I was not giving these struggles up to Him. I would reflect on them and mirror them into my relationships. This, I know hurt some and caused pain. For that I’m sorry. I’m sorry that it caused heartache and anxiety, not only to me but to those around me. I’m sorry I can’t go back and fix it…and only hope that it repairs.

I choose, and I hope that if you struggle with your identity, whether that be emotionally, sexually, physically,to remain in Him and remember that He has made you perfect by His sacrifice.
