Today, I picked up a journal that I kept back in 2008. Admittedly I am not the best person in keeping journals. They end up being part to-do or shopping lists, part prayer journals, some thoughts and generally a mismatched collection of quotes and prayers mixed in with sermon notes. I don’t know that there is really a formula for what a journal is, but I digress. My journals are a reflection of who I am: A bit random, a bit scattered, passionate, focused and thoughtful.
So this morning I picked it up and started reading through a few pages, sermon notes I had highlighted, prayers I’d written and diary entries scribbled throughout. I was reminded of how much God loves me and how He has taken me from one season to the other, building on the life lessons, making me into a person that He can use more effectively for His purposes.
Over the next few weeks I am going to take the time to look back at 2010 (not so original as many do around this time of year). I will take note of how God’s faithfulness and provision has taken me from who I was on January 1, 2010, to who am I as the fireworks and celebrations of December 31st will take me into the next season.
I challenge you to do the same…whether this year was exactly as you imagined, or completely different. Whether the moments where you broke down and cried outweighed those where you celebrated life. Or if you couldn’t comprehend a better year…
Take time, reflect and get ready for God to move…(next blog…)
